Edgewater Wireless’ WiFi3™ Chosen for Real-world Trial with First Fiterator-affiliated Operator

February 8, 2017 – Ottawa, Canada & Louisville, Colorado Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc. (YFI; TSX.V) is pleased to announce that its WiFi3™ technology has been rigorously tested by Kyrio and proven to effectively solve real world High Density WiFi deployment challenges. Kyrio provides third-party certification, interoperability, performance, and compatibility testing for a wide variety of networked technology and devices.

“At Kyrio we focus our wireless testing on real world performance. That means simulating how WiFi works everywhere – in the real world, and this is the approach we took with testing Edgewater Wireless’ WiFi3™ Multi-channel Single Radio (MCSR) technology,” said Wylie Nelson, VP of Wireless & Testing Services for Kyrio. “We simulated real world high density environments, which are subject to wireless interference, overload of connected devices, capacity, and data demand, and found WiFi3™ met these performance challenges.”

Kyrio’s test results show WiFi3™ provides outstanding performance for wireless service providers and operators in high density networks, as well as community and venue WiFi. WiFi3™ offers excellent performance in mitigating the impacts of Adjacent and Co-channel interference, as well as offering very compelling deployment “total cost of ownership” (TCO) benefits over traditional, WiFi architecture. WiFi3™ also directly addresses the attenuated client issue, better know as the “sticky client” problem, where user devices have a tendancy to “stick” to the wireless router they are connected to rather than switch to a better connection on another available wireless radio.

Kyrio wireless testing profiles Wi-Fi devices, including network gateways, embedded and standalone Wi-Fi access points, antenna and enclosure designs, and end user devices. Kyrio’s Rohde & Schwarz anechoic chamber, lxia’s lxChariot and IxVeriWave equipment, octoBox testbed, and 5,000 sq. ft. test house provide environments engineered to meet the testing demands of devices deployed in today’s and tomorrow’s residential and commercial networks.

“Kyrio was able to develop a test plan that simulated the real world environments of our customers. WiFi3™ technology performs best where wireless interference and capacity impact WiFi,” said Eric Smith, VP of Product at Edgewater Wireless. “The team at Kyrio conducted exhaustive testing of our technology. They were able to demonstrate the real world performance advantages and capabilities of WiFi3™ for high density environments.”

The performance results were presented in a webinar hosted jointly by Kyrio and Edgewater Wireless in December 2016. The full report developed by Kyrio will be available following the conclusion of the CableLabs Winter Conference and available on the company’s website: www.edgewaterwireless.com/outperforms/

Edgewater Wireless is also pleased to announce that, as a direct result of its participation in the UpRamp Fiterator program, the company will be entering into trials of WiFi3™ in a large, high density venue in the United States. The trial will take place over several weeks this spring to test multiple features and functionality of WiFi3™ in a live performance venue. Tech trials of this nature are typically the first step in defining the capabilities of a technology within existing infrastructure as well as future commercial applications.

Edgewater’s WiFi3™ powered technology is the best Wi-Fi solution for carriers, service providers and systems integrators in high-density WiFi applications to address the evolving issues of adjacent channel and co-channel interference and congestion which is stretching WiFi to its breaking point. Edgewater’s patented technology solves the high-density WiFI problem while also significantly reducing the equipment investment and operating costs for new network deployments.
