April 23, 2018 —Ottawa, Canada – Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc. (YFI; TSX.V) (OTCQB: KPIFF), the developer of WiFi3™ ultra-wideband, concurrent multi-channel WiFi chipsets, modular circuit cards, station units and access point products for high-density/high-interference wireless networks – made to meet the challenge of large retailers, enterprise, hospitality and event venues, today announced its newest software, a firmware update with multiple features and increased performance for aera™ access points (www.aera.io) as part of Edgewater’s multi-channel high density wireless solutions.

New Firmware Highlights

  • Edgewater is delivering advanced networking addressing capability for large scale, multi-access point deployments. Example: For enterprises where network deployments scale from 100’s to 1,000’s of access points.
  • Radio card firmware increasing access point throughput capability to deliver higher performance in high-density applications.
  • Enhanced PowerZoning™ capabilities now featuring more granular MCS (Modulation Coding Scheme) rate control per zone and optimal customer experience in high-density applications. PowerZoning™ technology is only available only on Edgewater’s patented WiFi3™.
  • Edgewater Wireless has also achieved optimized processor and memory utilization for high-density applications, such as; enterprise, retail and hospitality networks.
  • Edgewater Wireless’ aera™ access points now benefit from enhancements to the WiFi3™ chipset firmware.

The technology enhancements integrated into the latest firmware release were developed, in part, through close collaboration with partners and thought-leaders within the cable industry. Edgewater Wireless continues to work closely with the cable industry following our participation in the CableLabs UpRamp Fiterator accelerator program.

“The demand for client airtime on the WiFi spectrum is the most important issue in WiFi today.  The rapidly growing number of WiFi users, the increasing demand for spectrum airtime by the background functions of mobile applications, and the flood of IoT devices for the retail and smart home markets are creating significant airtime contention issues in WiFi. Channel densification within the WiFi coverage area can relieve airtime contention issues in client-dense WiFi environments. Edgewater is delivering advanced multi-channel single radio (MCSR) solutions and better performance in high-density WiFi environments.” said Eric Smith, VP Product for Edgewater Wireless.
